Ms. Joan Bowla
Clinical Social Worker
Joan Bowla has over 10 years of clinical experience working in the Mental and Behavioral Health industries serving clients dually diagnosed with mental health and substance abuse. She started her career as a Community Outpatient Therapist with The Starting Place and served at-risk/delinquent children, adolescents, adults and families by providing individual and family sessions.
Ms. Bowla’s passion and drive to make a difference in the lives of others has made it easy for her to help her clients address maladaptive behaviors resulting in better emotional regulation, improved decisional makings skills, improved school performance, reduced conflicts in the homes and stronger relationships with parents and peers.
Ms. Bowla obtained her Master’s of Social Work at Florida Atlantic University where she graduated with Honors and was inducted as a member of the PHI Alpha Honor Society. Ms. Bowla has an insatiable desire to learn and participates in ongoing training to better equip her with the skills to serve her clients. Ms. Bowla has certification in Grief & Loss, Addiction Intervention, SMART Recovery Facilitator, Assessing Mental Health & Substance Abuse, Trauma Treatment and is a Certified Telehealth Provider.
Ms. Bowla utilizes several treatment modalities to help her clients maintain emotional regulation such as holistic therapy, spirituality, mindfulness, and the mind-body-soul connection. Ms. Bowla has been trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Motivational Interviewing and uses her skills and expertise in these areas to help facilitate the change process.
