ADOLESCENT GROUP/YOGA THERAPY
Group TherapyGroup therapy provides adolescents a safe space in which they can discuss and share their personal problems with others who are experiencing similar problems. Adolescents participating in the group can see that others are going through the same thing, which can help them feel less alone.
By observing someone successfully coping with a problem, other members of the group can see that there is hope for recovery. As each person progresses, they can, in turn, serve as a role model and support figure for others. This can help foster feelings of success and accomplishment. Group therapy also helps adolescents develop communication and socialization skills and allows them to express their issues and accept criticism from others. |
YogaYoga helps to build a sense of self. Through yoga, adolescents will get to know themselves and cultivate a more nonjudgmental relationship with themselves. Yoga builds self-trust. When you get more confident and become more rooted in your sense of self and your center, you develop a healthy balanced ego.
Yoga also improves relationships. When adolescents are more centered and more peaceful with themselves, they will be the same way with others. Yoga helps us recognize qualities in ourselves that we were not aware of, helping us be more mindful. Yoga increases mindfulness so that adolescents can understand, control, and change their actions and behaviors. Breathing deeply helps to calm the nervous system. |
