Ms. Emecia Bishop
Licensed Social Worker
For nearly three decades, Emecia L. Bishop has played an active role in the field of Social Work. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she offers her services in Florida to provide children and their families with a judgement-free setting to explore the symptoms and behavior of clients. She believes that meeting clients in their homes fosters such an environment, allowing them to set a comfortable pace towards recovery that she helps them navigate. It is her ultimate goal to ensure everyone she works with has a safe, therapeutic environment in which to grow.
Ms. Bishop’s passion for working with children began in a therapeutic preschool, where she served as a team leader to introduce toddlers to the benefits of therapy from a young age. Her joy surfaced as she watched the children flourish and gain confidence under her guidance, and she resolved to enable more to do the same. Throughout her career, she has worked as a Family Service Counselor, Child Protective Investigator and a Community Control Specialist. Her experience includes working with children in short-term residential programs and school settings, and with adults within the criminal justice system; Mental Health Court and Drug Court. Currently, she is an active member of the National Association for Social Workers (NASW), The Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) and the Association for Play Therapy (A4PT). In April, 2004, she earned a Master of Social Work degree from Florida Atlantic University. Her supportive, collaborative, client-centered approach empowers her clients to change their behaviors and their lives, as she believes all have the internal ability to do so.
She has dedicated herself to training in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Play Therapy to better enable her to provide the unique care each client needs. During her time in social work, Ms. Bishop has found acceptance, warmth and empathy to be the key to success, and uses this understanding to act as a dependable, zealous advocate for her clients.
